FC United of Manchester is proud to announce that we will be holding “United Reunited Day” on Saturday 12th October 2019, when we will mark the core issue that led to the formation of the club in 2005 and invite any interested Manchester United supporters to join us at our home game against Buxton in the Northern Premier League.

The match will be played at our Broadhurst Park home in Moston and kicks off at 3pm.

Supporters may recall this rousing event was last held as “United United Day”on 8th October 2005 when we played Daisy Hill at Gigg Lane, Bury. On that day our attendance of 3,808 was boosted by the presence of around 1,400 Manchester United supporters who came along to jointly protest the takeover of Manchester United by the Glazer family earlier in the year.

This excellent BBC documentary, first broadcast three months after the takeover in 2005, was prescient in highlighting the consequences of the Glazer buyout, as well as setting out the background of how FC United of Manchester first came into existence. click here

Since 2005, many articles, books and documentaries have commented on the financial impact of the Glazer takeover. Predominant amongst the highlighted issues is that the payment of loan interest, debt restructuring, debt repayment, consultancy fees and dividends taken from the club’s funds has resulted in reduced capital being available to maintain Manchester United as the Premier League’s most successful club. Certainly the lack of player investment has been most apparent in the years since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.

Now, watching the current team’s results and on-pitch performance, it’s clear that the leveraged takeover model has been proven to be unsuitable for the purchase of one of Britain’s most famous and precious sporting assets.

Many FC United supporters have stayed away from Old Trafford in the last 14 years but we retain our love and admiration for the club whilst singing songs that protest the Glazer takeover at every match we play. The title “United Reunited Day” was deliberately chosen to reflect that, regardless of whether we choose to watch MUFC or FCUM or both, we are all Manchester United fans at heart and are all concerned by the club’s current predicament.

Owing to the international break there are no Premier League fixtures on the weekend of the 12th/13th October. We can’t promise the silky skills that you’d hope to see at Old Trafford but we’d like to welcome as many Manchester United supporters as possible to come and join fellow match-going, Glazer-sceptic Reds at Broadhurst Park on Saturday 12th October and enjoy a pie and a pint and a sing-song on the terraces. One thing’s for sure - you’ll be guaranteed a warm welcome and a Red embrace. Let’s reunite for “United ReUnited Day”.

ENTRY TO THE GROUND
Turnstiles open at 1pm.
Between 12 noon and 1pm, fans wishing to access the Main Stand function room bar can gain admission via Main Reception on production of your season/match ticket or by cash payment of the match admission price.

RESERVED SEATING IN THE MAIN STAND
Supporters will be able to reserve seats in one block of the Main Stand on a first come first served basis, by calling the FC United office 24 hours before kick-off on 0161 769 2005. A maximum of 4 seats can be reserved per person. Those who have reserved seating need to collect a wristband from the FC United office accessible through the main reception on the day of the match. These wristbands will only be available until the kick off time of the match.

BARS AND FOOD
There will be three bars open throughout the ground.
Alcoholic drinks are permitted to be consumed in view of the pitch and therefore served in plastic glasses.

The Main Function room will be open from 12pm-7.00pm serving hot food, alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages.

The SMRE bar will be open from 1pm-4.15pm serving hot food, alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. Cask Ale is available and this week’s offer is Special Pale Ale from Buxton Brewery, Galatia Double Hopped Extra Pale, Fool’s Gold and Chorlton Pale Ale.
A live music set will be on from 1:30 – 2:55, further details to follow.
The Kazbar serves hot food and non alcoholic beverages and will open from 1.30pm to 4.15pm.
The Chippy, located in the corner of the North Stand and SMRE terrace serves hot food and non alcoholic beverages.

CLUB SHOP
The Club Shop located at front of the ground to the right of the Main Reception will be open from 1pm-3pm and for 15-20 minutes after the final whistle.
There is no entry to the shop at half-time.

FREE SHUTTLE BUS - TO AND FROM THE GROUND
The FREE shuttle bus will make 3 journeys from Manchester and 4 journeys from the Railway Pub (adjacent to Newton Heath & Moston Metrolink stop), to Broadhurst Park. The bus will also pick supporters up at the Fairway Inn on Broadway.

After the match the shuttle bus will make two trips back to The Crowne Plaza in Manchester via Newton Heath / Moston Metrolink stop. The first trip will leave immediately after the match from Lightbowne Road at approximately 4.50pm. The second will leave at approximately 6pm from the club car park.

Supporters can also take the 181/182 First Bus service from Lever Street in Manchester city centre, alighting outside the ground on St. Mary’s Road.

CAR PARKING
We would urge supporters to use the car parks we have available for a charge of £5 at the ground, and for £3 at the nearby St Matthew’s School, only 3 minutes’ walk from the ground.

We are under a duty to ensure areas such as St Mary’s Road and the north of Nuthurst Road are not used by visitors to Broadhurst Park.

Supporters should be mindful that there is no parking on:

- St Mary’s Road and the streets off St Mary’s Road; including Teddington Road, Merridale Road, Worthington Street and Tymm Street.

- Nuthurst Road;

- the West side of Moston Lane and the streets off it.

FCUM have never beaten Buxton in a Home League fixture, drawing twice and losing 5 times.
The Bucks won their first league game of 2019-20 on Tuesday, beating Grantham Town 7-0 at home.
Liam Hardy has scored 135 goals in 2010 appearances for Buxton.
Grant Shenton made 7 appearances for FCUM between 2008 and 2011.
Josh Wallen scored 3 goals in 26 appearances for FCUM in the 2018-19 season.
Dale Whitham scored 3 goals in 10 appearances for FCUM in the 2018-19 season.

Sensational FC United beat Buxton 7-0 (seven)
FC United put in one of their best ever performances in the club’s 14 year history to beat old rivals Buxton 7-0 (seven) at Broadhurst Park during United Re-United Day ?on Saturday afternoon?.

Man of the match Tunde Owalabi scored four of the seven goals and had a hand in the other three and its little wonder the forward received a standing ovation when he was taken off with 10 minutes to go.

From the first attack you sensed that FC really ‘fancied it’ today and it wasn’t long until the first goal of the day was scored. Tunde started the move, running directly at a Buxton defence that looked like a deer in the headlights, before playing Alex Babos in on the right hand side of the box, Babos took his time, placed the ball at the feet of Jordan Buckley who just passed it into the back of the net. 1-0 after only 12 minutes.

From this point on it seemed as if Tunde was a predator feeding on the fear he was bringing out of the Buxton defence and everytime he got the ball he just wanted to run at them.

This led to the penalty for the second goal as he powered past a helpless defender, who despite his best efforts couldn’t keep up with the FC forward and ending up clattering him down in the box. Tunde dusted himself off and converted the penalty for 2-0 on 16 minutes.

Two minutes later and The Reds added another. This time a deep Curran corner wasn’t cleared properly by the visiting defence and once it fell to the feet of that man Owalabi there was only ever going to be one result. 3-0.

Only the likes of Rory Pattinson have previously become a “cult icon” at the club as quickly as Tunde has managed to do it. His third goal (sealing his hat-trick after just 25 minutes) was everything an FC fan on the terraces loves about the player. Just sheer power, determination and pace to break free and an accurate strike into the bottom corner. 4-0 with only 25 minutes played.

FC were just clicking all over the pitch and looked hungry for more. The fifth came just before the break as Tunde picked up the ball on the edge of the FC box from a Buxton corner. He played a pass into the path of Alex Curran who took it from inside his own half all the way into the Buxton box before seeing his effort just sneak under the body of former FC goalie Grant Shenton to make it five. 5-0 after only 34 minutes!

A negative from the first half came in the terms of some frustration from the Buxton players who committed several cynical and heavy looking challenges, with one seeing Alex Curran needing treatment and being replaced at the start of the second half by Paul Ennis.

The irony was that Ennis added the sixth with his first touch of the game, another dangerous run from Tunde before a neat back heel into the path of Ennis saw the substitute with time to pick his spot and put the ball away. 6-0 just two minutes after the interval.

Not content with the six they had already bagged, FC kept coming forward looking for more and that man Tunde finished off the magnificent seven with his fourth of the game. Another superb sold effort, showing his power and accuracy once more to fire home. 7-0 with 15 minutes remaining.

The match goes down as one of the most comprehensive performances in the club’s history. Add into the mix that this was our biggest home league win at Broadhurst Park and our first ever home league win over Buxton then you can’t deny the magnitude of such a result.

The Reds now sit just three points off the play-off places on 18 points, with second place to fifth place all on 21 points.

We welcome second placed Basford United to Broadhurst Park ?on Tuesday evening?. Another three points would certainly see the ‘Renolution’ gather more momentum than ever before.

Website man of the match: Tune Owalabi. Scored four, made the other three and hit the post. Had the vast majority of 1,888 supporters in attendance cheering his name as he made his way off the field.

Saturday 12th October F.C.UNITED (5) 7 BUXTON (0) 0 ATT 1888

The past 8 days' results must rate as one of the strangest weeks in the long history of BFC ! From excellent performances in the narrow F.A.Cup defeat to unbeaten York City and the 7-0 drubbing of 9th-placed Grantham Town last Tuesday, 'the Bucks' suffered a totally unexpected thrashing at 11th-placed F.C. Utd on Saturday. What's more, this was Buxton's first league defeat away to the 'Red Rebels' after 5 wins and 2 draws previously !

After a corner seemed to have been turned with recent displays, a rapid recovery will now be needed before Tuesday's visit to fellow strugglers, Trinity. A few players could be excused from blame for the club's worst defeat since a 2-7 reverse at NCEL Glasshoughton in the 2002/3 campaign, but this was a collective failure as Utd ran amok with 5 goals in 19 first-half minutes between the 13th and 31st.The home side had a day such as 'the Bucks' enjoyed on Tuesday, yet there were goals to make Buxton supporters wince as pacy attacks regularly caused havoc. None of this was apparent early on as the teams traded shots at goal. A misplaced pass allowed Potts a 25-yard shot at 'keeper Grant Shenton, while loanee Dale Whitham's effort from a low Alex Brown pull-back had a similar outcome. Then in the 13th minute Jones's defensive ball-winning challenge set up a rapid counter and Buckley was well-placed for an 8-yard,far-post finish. Three minutes later, after Brian Wilson had played in Liam Hardy to force a good save from Belford, below-par referee Raper gave Utd the opportunity to double their lead from the penalty spot and Owolabi duly obliged but even home fans agreed Nico's challenge on the striker should not have been penalised. Another 3 minutes on and the by now rampant 'Rebels' made it 3-0 as seemingly leaden-footed defending after a corner-kick allowed Owolabi to net a loose ball. The withdrawal of the injured Diego permitted a switch to a back 5 but Owolabi soon completed a 14-minute hat-trick with a well-struck,18-yard diagonal ground shot into the net's far corner. A mere 5 minutes on saw F.C. Utd's pace produce a 5th goal, netted by Stockport loanee, Curran. Liam won a corner then saw a shot blocked and cleared with such devastating effect that a lone defender faced 3 attackers at half-way! Before the interval referee Raper added to Buxton's shell-shocked misery. A home forward's seeming simulation earned an undeserved free-kick in a dangerous position, then a home penalty-area challenge on Hardy, more dubious than Nico's earlier, was ignored despite a concerted appeal.

In the 48th minute a Buxton error on the ball in defence allowed substitute and ex-Silverlander, Ennis, to fire home his team's 6th and 25 minutes later it was fitting that Owolabi completed the scoring with a tap-in after Shenton had made a good save following a right-flank cross. Jude Oyibo on several occasions, by beating opponents in midfield, had originated promising attacks but, after the loss of Diego, Liam generally lacked sufficient support in the final third as 'the Bucks' failed to score for only the 2nd time this season.
