On Boxing Day FC United welcome top of the table Chorley to Broadhurst Park, in the National League North kick off 3pm.

Due to the close proximity of this fixture and the Spennymoor match this arrangements article has been compiled before the Leamington match has taken place.

Admission is by payment at the turnstiles which open at 1.30 pm.

ON SAFETY ADVICE THIS MATCH IS SEGREGATED

FC United fans only should enter the ground via turnstiles 4-6 at the St.Mary’s Road end.

Before the turnstiles open, FC United fans ONLY can gain admission via the main reception on production of your match day or season ticket or by cash payment of the match admission price.

RESERVED SEATING IN THE MAIN STAND

Supporters will be able to reserve seats in one block of the Main Stand on a first come first served basis, by calling the FC United office on Monday 24th December on 0161 769 2005. A maximum of 4 seats can be reserved per person. Those who have reserved seating need to collect a wristband from the FC United office accessible through the main reception on the day of the match. These wristbands will only be available until the kick off time of the match.

BARS AND FOOD

There will be three bars open.

ALCOHOL WILL NOT BE SERVED IN THE AWAY END

The Function room will be open before, during and after the match until 7.00 ONLY for the sale of hot food, alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.

The SMRE bar will be open for food, alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks before and during the match.

The Cask Ale bar behind the main stand paddock will again be open for real ale before and during the match, and the Dry Bar opposite for food and non alcoholic beverages.

The chip cabin will also be open.

Food will be on sale in the away end for this match.

CLUB SHOP

The Club Shop is accessible at the front of the ground to the right of the Main Reception. It will be open before the game and for 15-20 minutes after the final whistle. Please note: There is no entry to the shop at half-time, however there maybe a Merchandise stall inside the ground between the corner of the SMRE and Main stand with a few items for sale during the game.

BIG COAT DAY

FC United’s annual Big Coat Day will take place at the Chester game on 5th January.

There will be a collection of warm clothing at both this and the upcoming Spennymoor game to go towards what has now become an event that helps define what this club is all about.

We are looking to collect both male and female clothes and all we ask is they are in good condition and are suitable for the circumstances. These vital contributions will help us make up packs to also include toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, food and soft drinks.

THE SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE WILL RUN FOR THIS GAME

The FREE shuttle bus will make 3 journeys from Manchester and 4 journeys from the Railway Pub (adjacent to Newton Heath & Moston Metrolink stop), to Broadhurst Park. The bus will also pick supporters up at the Fairway Inn on Broadway.

After the match the shuttle bus will make two trips back to The Crowne Plaza in Manchester via Newton Heath / Moston Metrolink stop. The first trip will leave immediately after the match from Lightbowne Road at 4.50pm. The second will leave at approximately 6pm from the club car park.

Supporters can also take the 181/182 First Bus service from Lever Street in Manchester city centre, alighting outside the ground on St. Mary’s Road and departing from St. Mary’s Road after the match.

CAR PARKING

We would urge supporters to use the car parks we have available for a charge of £5.00 at the ground, and for £3.00 at the nearby St Matthew’s School, only 3 minutes’ walk from the ground.

We are under a duty to ensure areas such as St Mary’s Road and the north of Nuthurst Road are not used by visitors to Broadhurst Park.

Supporters should be mindful that there is no parking on:

- St Mary’s Road and the streets off St Mary’s Road; including Teddington Road, Merridale Road, Worthington Street and Tymm Street.

- Nuthurst Road;

- the West side of Moston Lane and the streets off it.

FCUM Match Report:

'FC United beaten by Chorley on Boxing Day.

FC United slipped back into the relegation zone of the Vanarama National League North after being convincingly beaten 4-1 by second placed Chorley in front of 2,366 supporters at Broadhurst Park on Boxing Day.

The Magpies were a bigger, stronger, more organised side and ultimately, their second half dominance deserved the three points.

The Reds had spells in control but overall their possession and intricate passing style of play didn’t convert into goals. At the other end, they were picked apart far too easily by their much more clinical opponents.

However, despite the scoreline, the Reds will wonder what might have been after Kurt Willoughby had a goal, that would have made it 2-1 to FC United, controversially disallowed on the stroke of halftime.

With Chorley riding high in the league all the season, FC United started the day hoping, rather than expecting, that they could get a result from the first of three festive fixtures.

The challenge became even more difficult just seven minutes in when Lloyd Allinson had another moment to forget. The Reds goalkeeper spilled a routine catch from a hopeful cross to the feet of Chorley’s Josh Wilson, who squared for Marcus Carver to break the deadlock.

Fortunately, United were back on level terms after 15 minutes courtesy of centre-backs Stephen O’Halloran and Chris Lynch combining. O’Halloran put in an inviting cross to the back post and Lynch slid in to bundle the ball over the line at the second attempt.

The Reds were in the ascendancy but without really working Magpies goalkeeper Tony McMillan. However, they felt aggrieved moments before half-time when Willoughby volleyed the ball into the bottom corner in front of the St Mary’s Road End. The referee felt there was a foul by Chris Sharp in the build up and blew his whistle just as the England C striker let fly.

Into the second half and Chorley looked like a different team - one the Reds couldn’t cope with. Two quick goals from Josh Wilson in the 61st and 65th minute killed off the game.

The first came from a corner where he rose completely unchallenged at the near post to head home past a static Allinson. FC United’s knack of conceding from set-pieces and crosses continues unabated.

Four minutes later, Allinson did well to save Matt Challoner’s powerful, deflected piledriver from 30 yards but he parried the ball straight into the path of Wilson, who fired home first time for 3-1.

The Reds piled forward in a bid to get back into the game. They produced some good, patience build up play but lacked ideas in the final third.

Almost inevitably, Chorley hit them on the break. Wilson split the sparse FC United defence with a beautifully executed throughball, which Carver finished with aplomb to make it 4-1.

Substitute Tom Peers almost got one back for FC United but his close-range header was tipped round the post before Allinson denied Wilson a hat-trick at the death with a fine point-blank save.

Website man of the match: Michael Potts. The FC United captain led by example again and was continually trying to drive the Reds forward in a good first half display.'
