As usual we stayed in the bar after the match knowing there was a Band on at 9pm called the wakes, what wasn't clear if there was a cover charge which turned out to be £5 on the door? can some one explain if the band paid to hire the room and if so what sort of crowd was expected I counted around 30 odd maybe more turned up later even so not enough to pay for the hire of the room.
What's not clear how many knew there was a band on and if so would they pay £5 or be asked to leave which was the case, this is where it needs to be clear people were not happy to be told drink up & leave or pay the admission fee eventually though common sense it was decided to allow those still drinking to stay and enjoy the band who were very good nice opening song Dirty old town went down very well with the FC fans dancing in front of the stage would be interesting to know what the Wakes made of it

The Wakes playing was apparently part of the Our City United and International Women's Day activities which took place before the match. The presentation to the winners of the tournament was due to take place as part of it. No mention of a £5 cover, though.

On 11th March before the Tamworth game there is a 7-a-side community tournament, ’Our City United’, taking place on the outside grass pitches (the other side of the 3G pitch) between a number of sides from across the country.
On 11th March before the Tamworth game there is a 7-a-side community tournament, ’Our City United’, taking place on the outside grass pitches (the other side of the 3G pitch) between a number of sides from across the country.
The tournament, kindly sponsored by Unison North West, is being promoted with an ethos of community and solidarity and the teams involved are united by a commitment to values of community, equality and fairness in football.
The tournament takes place between 10am and 12 noon.
Teams taking part include;
- YORKSHIRE FC ST PAULI
- FC COLLECTIVE VICTORIA
- INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY
- DISABILITY MASTERS AFC
- MOUNT PLEASANT PARK AFC.
Also taking place on the grass pitch from 12 noon to 1pm, to kick off our small event for International Women’s Day is an exhibition match between United Glasgow Women’s Team and Easton Cowgirls from Bristol.
Following the match, in the Community Cabin, there will be a DVD shown about women’s football in Palestine called Balls, Barriers and Bulldozers anda discussion with representatives from both clubs and also from Women At The Game.
And finally, in the evening, Glasgow band ’The Wakes’ will be playing from 9pm in the function room as part of their Venceremos tour.

Mike recheck the tweets it clearly says a £5 entrance fee payable on the door !

There were posters all around the ground, this one was on a table in the SMRE bar
